Role Overview

 

Eastman Kodak Company is looking for a Data Engineer/Analyst to join our Wide Roll Film Manufacturing division located at the Eastman Business Park in Rochester, NY to support Film Sensitizing operations in roll-to-roll coating operations and component manufacturing processes.

 

Photographic products are created from many types of materials; solutions, emulsions, dispersions, gelatin, that are produced in Rochester Film Sensitizing and Wide Roll Manufacturing.   Several hundred components are combined guided by film formulations to make the actual photographic film product.   This position provides the systems and data support for several specialized ‘mini- factories’ that produce the individual component materials necessary for the final film product.     This position supports the interface between the master planning system (SAP), the manufacturing equipment and the shop floor reporting systems (Kodak created software).  The ideal candidate would enjoy the fast pace of a production environment and possess the mindset and skills to troubleshoot situations when data transfers may have errors and how to fix problems.

 

Job Requirements:
•    Provide data and systems support to operation teams by addressing raw materials, finished goods, and work in process information transactions. 
•    Respond to data flow process needs for both component materials and the roll-to-roll coating machine (unwind/convey/wind). 
•    Provide data and systems support to technical teams (formulas, routings, rules). Maintain accurate inventory control between SAP and shop floor manufacturing systems. 
•    Monitor systems daily for processing errors/failures. Investigate/resolve data errors across systems. 
•    Drive improvements to reduce waste and improve reliability. 
•    Provide 24x5 support for shop floor manufacturing systems. 
•    Interest in working with existing Kodak legacy systems as we manage/upgrade/replace them. 
•    Able to collaborate with corporate IT support for problem resolutions and potential future fixes.
•    Ability to balance production priorities with project investigations
•    Adhere to Kodak safety standards.  
 

Skills Required:

•    Experience working with relational databases, using SQL (Structured Query language) and RDO (Relational Database Operator) to extract data or update in those databases and DCL (DEC Command Language) for working on the DEC operating systems on the DEC vaxes.
•    Experience with programming languages (Visual Basic, Pascal, C++, Python, VB.Net). 
•    Knowledge of SAP, Wonderware, SQL Databases, RDB Databases, Windows Servers, Excel/VBA, Visual Basic 6. Experience with platform updates. 
•    Easy Label familiarity  
•    Capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work on projects with global participation.
•    Experience in a manufacturing / production environment. 
•    Troubleshooting and critical thinking skills (cause/effect) along with personal tenacity are required to go across levels of systems and data. 
•    Dependable, flexible, effective communication and listening skills. Willingness to accept ownership and responsibility of resolving issues. 
•    Organized and detail oriented. Good collaborator and willing to learn / share with team. 
•    A self-starter who can improve data/procedures/systems and can also learn appropriate (new) skills from a mentor or IT team. 
•    Ability to use established procedures and to document/update needed. 
 

Preferred Experience: 
•    Associate’s or higher degree in field of Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Management, Business Analyst. 
•    Preferred 5+ years of experience in IT or IT Support or Manufacturing Support. Work experience in fast paced manufacturing environment.
