Demand and Supply Planner

Responsibilities

The Demand & Supply Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining an integrated demand and supply plan that balances customer requirements, inventory objectives, manufacturing capacity, material availability, and business priorities.

This is an onsite role in Rochester, New York.

This role serves as a key connection between Sales, Business Operations, Manufacturing, Production Planning, Materials Planning, Logistics, and Finance. The planner identifies future demand and supply gaps, develops scenarios and recommendations, and ensures that agreed business priorities are translated into executable supply plans.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Develop and maintain demand and supply plans using forecasts, customer requirements, inventory targets, manufacturing capacity, and material availability.
•    Partner with Sales and Business Operations to review forecasts, customer requirements, market changes, new products, and other demand assumptions.
•    Evaluate demand against available supply, capacity, materials, and inventory to identify potential shortages, excess inventory, and constraints.
•    Develop supply scenarios and recommend actions to balance customer service, inventory, manufacturing capacity, and cost.
•    Lead or support the S&OP process, including demand review, supply review, gap identification, scenario development, and escalation of decisions.
•    Establish inventory strategies and targets that support customer-service requirements while minimizing excess and slow-moving inventory.
•    Provide production planners with clear supply priorities and requirements consistent with the approved demand and supply plan.
•    Partner with Manufacturing and Production Planning to understand capacity, lead times, constraints, and opportunities to improve supply flexibility.
•    Coordinate with Materials/Parts Planning to identify upstream material or component constraints that could affect the supply plan.
•    Monitor actual demand, production, inventory, and customer-service performance against plan and drive corrective actions when significant deviations occur.
•    Support new product introductions, product transitions, phase-outs, and inventory disposition planning.
•    Identify root causes of recurring planning and supply issues and lead continuous improvements in planning processes, parameters, systems, and data.
•    Communicate significant demand, supply, capacity, inventory, and customer-service risks to business and supply chain leadership.

Qualifications:
•    5+ years of experience in demand planning, supply planning, production planning, materials planning, or manufacturing operations.
•    Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
•    Strong understanding of demand planning, supply planning, inventory management, capacity planning, and manufacturing operations.
•    Experience with ERP/MRP and advanced planning systems; SAP experience preferred.
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate multiple scenarios and recommend appropriate business actions.
•    Strong Microsoft Excel and data-analysis skills.
•    Demonstrated ability to work effectively across Sales, Manufacturing, Finance, Logistics, Customer Service, and Supply Chain.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex supply and demand situations to multiple levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

•    Experience with S&OP or IBP processes.
•    Experience in a vertically integrated manufacturing environment.
•    Knowledge of statistical forecasting, inventory optimization, capacity planning, and constraint management.
•    APICS/ASCM CPIM or CSCP certification.
•    Experience supporting new product introductions and product lifecycle planning.
•    Experience developing planning KPIs, dashboards, and performance analysis.
