Production Planner - Finished Goods

Role Overview

The Production Planner- Finished Goods is responsible for translating customer demand, inventory requirements, and supply constraints into executable finished-goods production and replenishment plans. This role partners closely with Demand & Supply Planning, Manufacturing, Materials Planning, Sales Operations, Customer Service, and Logistics to ensure product availability while balancing customer service, inventory, and manufacturing efficiency.

This is an onsite role in Rochester, New York.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Develop and maintain finished-goods production plans based on customer orders, forecasts, inventory levels, material availability, and manufacturing capacity.
•    Translate demand into weekly production requirements and communicate priorities to Manufacturing.
•    Monitor customer orders, inventory, capacity, and supply constraints to identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
•    Establish and maintain reorder points, safety stocks, lead times, and other inventory planning parameters.
•    Partner with Materials/Parts Planners to ensure components and upstream materials are available to support production requirements.
•    Develop a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, work centers, capacities, lead times, and constraints to create realistic and executable plans.
•    Work with Sales and Regional Planning to minimize excess and slow-moving inventory while maintaining customer service.
•    Support new product introductions by establishing item master data and appropriate planning parameters in SAP.
•    Analyze planning and execution issues, identify root causes, and drive continuous improvement.
•    Communicate supply, inventory, capacity, and customer-service risks across the organization.

Qualifications:
•    1-5 years of experience in production planning, supply chain planning, materials planning, or manufacturing operations.
•    Experience with ERP/MRP systems; SAP preferred.
•    Working knowledge of production planning, inventory management, and manufacturing processes.
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills.
•    Ability to work effectively across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sales, Customer Service, and Logistics.
•    Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred:
•    Experience in a vertically integrated manufacturing environment.
•    Knowledge of S&OP, capacity planning, and inventory optimization.
•    APICS/ASCM CPIM or CSCP certification.
•    Experience with new product introductions and planning master data.
