Role Overview
The Chemical Warehouse Shipper is responsible for safely preparing, packaging, labeling, and shipping chemical products in accordance with company procedures, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory standards. This role ensures accurate order fulfillment, inventory control, and compliance with hazardous material handling and transportation regulations while maintaining a safe and organized warehouse environment.
Responsibilities:
• Pick, pack, and prepare chemical products for shipment according to customer orders.
• Verify product quantities, lot numbers, and shipping documentation for accuracy.
• Package hazardous and non-hazardous materials in compliance with DOT, OSHA, EPA, and company requirements.
• Generate shipping labels, bills of lading, manifests, and other transportation documents.
• Load and unload trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
• Inspect outgoing shipments for proper packaging, labeling, and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain accurate inventory records through warehouse management systems and cycle counting activities.
• Receive, inspect, and store incoming materials and products.
• Perform routine warehouse housekeeping and ensure storage areas remain organized and compliant.
• Report inventory discrepancies, damaged materials, safety concerns, and shipping errors promptly.
• Follow all safety procedures for handling chemicals, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assist with inventory management, stock rotation, and warehouse improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
Education
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Additional training in hazardous materials handling preferred.
Experience
• 1-3 years of warehouse, shipping, logistics, or chemical handling experience preferred.
• Experience with hazardous materials shipping and warehouse management systems is a plus.
Skills and Knowledge
• Knowledge of chemical handling and warehouse safety procedures.
• Understanding of DOT and hazardous materials shipping regulations preferred.
• Ability to accurately complete shipping and inventory documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and inventory/shipping software.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday.
• Ability to operate forklifts and warehouse equipment safely.
• Ability to work in warehouse environments with varying temperatures and exposure to chemical products while using appropriate PPE.
Working Conditions
• Warehouse and distribution center environment.
• Regular use of safety equipment, including gloves, safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, and other required PPE.
• Exposure to chemical products and industrial equipment in accordance with safety guidelines.
Preferred Certifications
• Forklift Certification.
• Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Shipping Certification.
• OSHA Safety Training.
