Role Overview

 

Film processing technician – responsible for the development of motion picture film

 


Key Responsibilities:

•    Prepare film for processing – sorting and prioritising customer jobs according to work orders
•    Dark room operations – this is function is conducted in total darkness
•    Operating processor, film cleaning and other peripheral laboratory equipment
•    Chemical mixing and basic analysis according to defined aim values
•    Quality control to a set of defined parameters
•    Maintain strict Kodak HSE (Health Safety and Environment) standards and operating procedures

 


Film Technician profile:

•    This is a multi-skilled job role which includes disciplines in film processing, film handling, chemical mixing, and operating large processing equipment.
•    Operators will be required to adhere to strict operating procedures, which requires attention to detail and a methodical approach. 
•    The ability to problem-solve on the run and make remedial changes to avert quality failures is highly desirable
•    Prepared to have a ‘hands-on’ approach with basic mechanical ability is an advantage.
•    Maintain high levels of cleanliness to the operating environment and equipment, which requires regular cleaning to a high standard. Dust and dirt are major causes of quality issues
•    Basic computer skills – reporting and recording data in basic MS applications
•    A high level of reliability and the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines when required. 
•    Prepared to work outside of sociable hours

 


Qualifications 

•    Film school / media graduate is an advantage, but not essential as full training is provided.
•    Hands-on skills acquired in any other area of the industry – on set, camera rental companies, photographic studios etc, will provide a solid foundation for training.
